Atleast One Gambian player has booked a place in the Draught World Cup in Brazil after finishing sixth out of the best ten that qualified for The World Cup, in the just ended African championship in Banjul. Shekh Njie, on his debut in the championship, collected a total of 10 draught_picpoints behind the first five led by Senegalese Macoudo Ndiaye, who won the Banjul tourney,( the 13th African championship,) for the fifth time,Thursday.
Previous titles to his name included Bamako in 1988, Ivory Coast, 1990, Dakar, 1992 and Banjul in 1994.
Mr Ndiaye who collected a total of 11 points, will as the African champion, represent the continent in the world along-side nine other players who impressed in the ten day long Banjul tourney. Others who will make the African team to Brazil include,
Jean M. Njo Fang of Cameroon,  Ndiaga Samb ,Senegal, Musa Camara of Guinea and Leopard Kouoque of Cameroon,Sadibou Drammeh (Mali), Adama Kone (Burkinafaso , and Souleyman Dieng ( Mauritania)
The Gambian duo of Sulayman Norman and Abdou Ceesay who both took part in the championship were not good enough to secure a world cup ticket.
